Dr Manisha Mishra

Dr Mishra is a fellow of The Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has obtained a sub-specialisation in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry while working at Ballarat Health Services and Austin Health, Melbourne.
Dr Mishra is a distinguished child psychiatrist with a wealth of experience having worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in public and private sectors for nearly two decades. Her focus is primarily on young Children, Adolescents and Young adults (up to 25 years). Her area of expertise is in childhood disorders such as neurodevelopmental disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual, Disability Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder etc), anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, sleep disturbance, etc.
Dr Mishra takes a holistic approach in assessing young person’s difficulties and the impact of the same in various aspects of their lives (home/school/work) including significant relationships. She attempts to engage the young people and their families to better understand their struggles.
Dr Mishra has a passion for teaching and training. She had been actively involved with teaching undergraduate students at Melbourne Medical School, and training registrars and allied health professionals.
In her spare time, she likes to read, walk & cook, and enjoy time with her family & friends.
Dr Mishra provides a combination of pharmacological & psychological treatments using a broad bio-psychosocial cultural approach to achieve young person’s goals. Her assessment & management includes:
- Diagnostic Assessments: Comprehensive evaluations over a few sessions to diagnose and understand person’s mental health condition. The process includes family meeting, clinical interviews, observation, and collaboration with parents, teachers, and other relevant individuals involved in young person’s care.
- Individual Therapy: Sessions with the young person tailored to meet the individual’s unique needs. It aims to empower the person to develop healthy coping strategies and build resilience.
- Family Therapy: Therapy sessions provide a safe space for the person and their family members for open communication, understanding, and problem-solving, ultimately strengthening family connections.
- Medication Management: When the medications are indicated, a collaborative approach to prescribing and monitoring medication ensuring the person’s safety and optimal response.
- Parent Therapy and Support: Parental involvement is crucial in a person’s mental health journey especially when they are living at home. Therapy aims to work with the parents to equip them with valuable knowledge and strategies to understand better and support their loved one’s emotional well-being at home and school.
- Consultations with others: School collaboration is essential to support children’s educational and social needs. Liaison with other professionals involved is invaluable to ensure holistic care.
Dr Shailendra Kumar Bethi
Dr Bethi completed his post graduate training in England and is a Fellow of The Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) and Australia (FRANZCP). He holds a certificate in specialist training (CCT) from the UK and has experience of working as a consultant since 2011. He has worked in many clinical and leadership roles across public health services both in the UK and Australia. He served as the Medical Director for inpatient mental health services and was involved in a number of quality improvement initiatives, designing, setting up of new services and review of significant incidents that are not an expected outcome when receiving care within a health service . He understands the value of working closely with consumers , their families, carers and significant others in achieving their recovery goals.
He specialises in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric conditions in adults but also has a special interest in eating disorders, Neuropsychiatry (interface of neurological and psychiatric disorders), Psycho-Oncology (psychiatric conditions in the context of cancer and its treatments), ADHD and is trained in the administration of Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R), used in the diagnostic evaluation of Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
