Dr Harshal Deshmukh trained in Medicine in India, has a Masters in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst USA and a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from University of Dundee, Scotland.
He has done his clinical training in Scotland and North East deanery as a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and the Yorkshire and Humber deanery as a NIHR Clinical Lecturer. During his PhD and post-doctoral fellowship he has looked at the genetic epidemiology aspects of diabetes and complications of diabetes, and pharmacogenetics in diabetes.
His research interests include the genetic determinants of Polycystic Ovary syndrome, effect of novel technologies in diabetes monitoring and treatment and ethnic disparities in diabetes management.
